The Department of Applied Physics offers two compulsory undergraduate courses in Physics as an integral part of the curriculum of the Engineering Degree courses in Ist and IInd semesters. Emphasis is laid on the basic principles of Physics and their applications in Engineering disciplines. The first course comprises of the subjects of Electromagnetics, Applied optics, Oscillations, Fibre optics and Mathematical Physics. The second course deals with the concepts of Relativistic Dynamics, Wave- particle duality, Quantum Mechanics, Solid State Physics and Lasers. The department is well equipped with Laboratory facilities catering to the needs of undergraduate students. Extensive Practical/Laboratory training pertaining to the above related theory courses is also imparted to the students to acquaint them with the skills of experimentation, innovation and creativity.
