The department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 1994. The department offers four years B.E/B.TECH. programme in Civil Engineering having sanctioned strength of 60 students per year. The students are also admitted under Lateral Entry Scheme w.e.f. 2015.
The Department of Civil Engineering is NBA accredited w.e.f. year 2023-24.
Being the oldest Engineering discipline, Civil Engineering is the father of all engineering disciplines. With such a distinguished history behind it and centuries of accumulated knowledge and skills it becomes a delicate and often onerous task while framing the course curriculum to do justice to the reservoir of knowledge inherited from the past while at the same time reconciling it to the dramatic changes brought about by the digital revolution. The department has well established state of art Laboratories such as Material Testing Lab., Geo Technical Lab., Transportation Lab. and Structural Engineering Lab. to enable the students to keep abreast with the latest technologies.
Civil Engineering Department is actively involved in providing Consultancy services to the field agencies both Govt. as well as Public Sector through its experienced faculty and well-equipped laboratories.
Dr. S.K Gupta is also nominated as Coordinator-State Technical Agency since December, 2001 for Jammu Province of J&K UT for the prestigious Pradjhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) meant for providing new connectivity to the unconnected habitations as well as upgradation of the existing rural roads.
Dr. S.K Gupta is on panel as Technical Expert member of various Institutions of UT, Central Government and PSUs.
