         It gives me an immense pleasure to welcome Fresher’s to the portal of Government College of Engineering & Technology (GCET) Jammu, an institution of Higher Education Department J&K UT to empower students with sound knowledge, wisdom, experience and training both at the academic level of Engineering and in the highly competitive global industrial market. The institution started its voyage in 1994 with a vision of navigating the intricate athwart ocean of science and engineering via the power of the human mind, body, and soul. It’s Journey over nearly the past three decades has witnessed strong blend of state-of-the-art infrastructure and intricately intertwined human resource committed to provide professional education with thrust on creativity and innovation. The motivating environment in the institution stimulate the students for knowledge assimilation, hands-on experience through research and training, human values, sense of social responsibility, and concern for social commitment.

         The special emphasis is on Outcome Based Education (OBE) and Experiential Learning. The academic activities concentrate on helping the students to be proficient in excellent theoretical knowledge base, advanced technical knowledge, inventiveness, accuracy and precision, resilience, enthusiasm and critical reasoning etc. We constantly review, upgrade and update the set up to ensure that students gain thinking skills, analytical frameworks, entrepreneurial skills, Life skills, interpersonal and communication skills during their four years stay in the institute.

         GCET has entered into several Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with different organization/industries for academic and research collaboration. This has led to establishment of a robust Industry linkage, aiming toprovide extensive exposure to the students of the UT through training and internship in various fields.This industry linkage not only enhances the quality of education but also provides opportunities for research and innovation.

         There is ample of scope in co-curricular and extracurricular activities at GCET wherein the students are encouraged to showcase their talents. The institution verify that the students prove themselves to be not only well qualified engineers but also very responsible and ideal citizens of our country. The University results and placement speaks about our excellence with many of our students bringing laurel to the institution by getting highest ranking in university exams.The Alumni of this Institution have excelled in various spheres and are positioned very well globally in a number of leading Government, Public Sector and Private Organizations at the UT and National level.
